After posting a series of insights into ‘Discipline’ on another platform this week, a catch up with professional rugby player & friend Michael Mccilorum inspired me to collate & share. 👋
The What?
For me the definition of discipline is:
– Choosing to carry high standards for yourself.
Then make them your baseline.
Then meet them.
Try to exceed them.
Then repeat.
The How?
The way to achieve this is to invest:
– ‘UNSEEN HOURS’
– All the time & effort that no one sees.
– The miles in the dark, the hours of research with no support.
That’s DISCIPLINE.
The Why?
If you want to increase positive outcomes or to enhance yourself or your circumstance is anyway, then discipline is a choice.
1) Decide what you want
1) Determine the price you have to pay
1) CHOOSE if you are willing to pay it or not?
Michael has epitomised discipline in his behaviours, through a multitude of unseen hours & often hard choices as his career has evolved.
A multiple winner with a high baseline & it’s no wonder with his mindset & approach to “champion behaviours”.
Thanks for the perspective & check in Michael.
