Hey,
Recently, I had the chance to share dinners with not one, but two exceptional humans. We dove into conversations around health, performance, and exciting business projects.
Both of these guys had their own unique style and backstory. Clearly driven, incredibly intelligent, and refreshingly open-minded.
As I tried to keep up with the depth of each conversation, I found myself wondering—what makes these guys clearly next level? There was a presence about them. An aura. An authenticity that made them instantly likeable.
I couldn’t quite put my finger on it…
Until it hit me.
They were giving.
- Their full attention
- Their time
- Their honest, unbiased opinion
- Their wisdom
- Their experience
All of it. Freely. Generously. With no expectation in return.
That was the difference.
Could that be what makes them stand-out leaders in their fields?
And while yes, I was lucky enough to be gifted a delicious dinner (calamari fritti and a calzone—no pudding, for the record), the real gift was their generosity of presence.
So here’s my leadership takeaway:
Don’t underestimate the power of giving the “small” things:
– Your time.
– Your full attention.
– Your presence.
Because those things?
They’re not small at all.
They’re priceless. And the impact? Often immeasurable.
So, next time you’re with your team, your client, or your family give generously and ask not what can they do for me, but what can I give them today?
Have a great week & thanks for reading.
